Ethiopian Ambassador Muktar Mohamed Ware Commends Deep and Rooted Ties with Algeria

Algiers, Algeria | October 9th, 2024 — In a significant diplomatic exchange on Tuesday, Muktar Mohamed Ware, the new Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Algeria, praised the “deep and rooted” relationship between the two nations. He emphasized their active roles in promoting peace and security across Africa, aligning with the aspirations of the continent’s peoples.

In remarks made to the press following the presentation of his letters of credence to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Ambassador Ware noted that “the deep and rooted relations between Algeria and Ethiopia date back to the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU),” recalling the vital contributions both countries made in establishing this pivotal organization.

He remarked, “The two nations continue along the same trajectory within the framework of the African Union (AU), working diligently to preserve peace and security in Africa and thereby addressing the aspirations of the continent’s peoples.”

Ambassador Ware pointed to the “close and solid” relationship between President Tebboune and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, suggesting that this partnership could effectively tackle the challenges and difficulties facing Africa and the world at large.

Furthermore, the new Ethiopian envoy highlighted his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and coordination on issues of mutual interest. He underscored the importance of promoting economic ties and strengthening bonds between the two peoples, noting that Ethiopia could benefit from Algeria’s extensive experience and significant resources in achieving self-sufficiency.

The ceremony was attended by notable Algerian officials, including Mr. Boualem Boualem, Director of Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, and Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.
