Algiers, Algeria | May 16th, 2025 —  In a landmark moment for Algeria’s industrial development, the President and CEO of Madar Holding, Charaf-Eddine Amara, confirmed in an exclusive statement to Dzair Tube that the newly inaugurated “Tafadis” sugar refinery, located in Larbaâtache, Boumerdes Province, represents a technological leap forward in the country’s agro-industrial sector.

“This refinery is equipped with the most advanced technologies currently available in the sugar refining industry. We take great pride in inaugurating such a high-performance, strategic facility,” Amara declared, following the official launch ceremony.

The inauguration was presided over by the Minister of Industry, whose presence underscored the refinery’s importance to Algeria’s broader industrial strategy. Operating at a daily production capacity of 2,000 tons, the plant is designed to supply both domestic and international markets, reinforcing Algeria’s ambition to become a regional industrial leader and self-sufficient in critical food sectors.

Amara emphasized that the Tafadis refinery is part of a broader national investment strategy led by Madar Holding, which functions as a key investment arm of the Algerian state. The facility currently provides employment to approximately 850 workers, contributing significantly to local economic development and job creation.

Looking ahead, Amara revealed that Madar Holding plans to launch a new plant for producing sugar from sugar beets, marking a crucial step toward producing 100% Algerian sugar, in alignment with the strategic directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
