Finland paises pioneering, recognized role of Algerian diplomacy in peaceful settlement of numerous disputes at regional, international levels

ALGIERS– The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ammar Belani, received, Sunday, at the Ministry’s headquarters, the Director of the Finnish Mediation Center, Katja Ahlfors.
According to the ministry’s statement, the two sides discussed the modalities of cooperation between the Diplomatic and International Relations Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad and the Finnish Mediation Center in various fields related to research and training in diplomacy and mediation.
In this regard, Katja Ahlfors expressed the interest of her institution to benefit from the great experience accumulated by Algerian diplomacy in the field of mediation. An experience that has enabled Algerian diplomacy to play a pioneering and recognized role in the settlement of numerous disputes at regional and international levels.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views and analyzes on the current international contexts, which are characterized by a constant escalation of hotbeds of disputes and conflicts worldwide, and an alarming increase in the intensity of polarization between international powers.
In this context, both parties stressed the importance of promoting a culture of dialogue and encouraging peaceful solutions to crises, in particular by activating effective mediations which draw their strength and reliability from transparent engagement and full and non-selective application of international law away from double standards and narrow national calculations and agendas.
In addition, both sides highlighted the need to strengthen multilateral action as the only way for the international community to better settle disputes that threaten international peace and security by peaceful means and to respond collectively and effectively to major challenges facing humanity in terms of security and development.
