ALGIERS- The net is closing in on the Zionist military and its political leaders as international condemnation escalates, signaling the imminent end of their era of impunity. The International Criminal Court (ICC) is stepping up to its historical and legal responsibilities, finally addressing the ongoing atrocities unfolding in Gaza.

Algeria is not standing alone in holding the Zionist entity accountable for its massive and indiscriminate war crimes in Gaza. Joining the call for justice are five nations: South Africa (which has nearly severed diplomatic ties with the Zionist entity), Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros, and Djibouti.

In a formal request, these five countries have urged the ICC to investigate the Zionist military’s bloody assaults in the Palestinian enclave. The ICC, headquartered in The Hague, confirmed the submission in a statement released on Friday, November 17.

“The Office of the Prosecutor confirms that it is currently conducting an investigation into the situation in the State of Palestine,” the statement declared. It highlighted that the investigation, initiated on March 3, 2021, focuses on war crimes committed on June 13, 2014, in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Al Quds.

The ICC emphasized its commitment to impartially cataloging the crimes since the beginning of its mandate in June 2021. Prosecutor Karim Khan established a dedicated unit for the situation in Palestine, ensuring meticulous documentation of the crimes. The ICC has amassed a substantial volume of information, collecting data from survivors, non-governmental organizations, and local actors, with the ongoing work set to continue in Palestine and the Zionist entity.
