On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Ooredoo Algeria reaffirms its commitment to solidarity by renewing the “Iftar Box” initiative for the second consecutive year, in partnership with the national association for aid to the sick, “Winnelka”.
According to a company press release, this action aims to provide daily hot and complete meals throughout the fasting month for passersby and those in need. Ooredoo’s restaurant, located in Ouled Fayet, hosts the preparation and distribution operation, where the efforts of volunteers and association members combine to prepare boxes that allow beneficiaries to break their fast in dignity.
Direct Involvement from Management
Illustrating the values of solidarity and mutual aid inherent to Ramadan, the CEO of Ooredoo Algeria, Roni Tohme, along with the president of the “Winnelka” association, Karim Ibachirene, physically participated alongside volunteers in the preparation of the boxes on this seventh day of the holy month. Their presence highlights the importance of collective engagement and the spirit of sharing.
The operation is subject to strict hygiene and food safety standards. Meals are prepared daily by the association in a partner laboratory before being transported to Ooredoo’s headquarters for final assembly and packaging just before distribution, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.
Partner Statements
On this occasion, Roni Tohme, CEO of Ooredoo Algeria, stated:
“The ‘Iftar Box’ initiative concretizes the values of solidarity of the month of Ramadan and the spirit of sharing advocated by Ooredoo. We are proud to renew our partnership with the ‘Winnelka’ association to provide concrete support to fasters and the most vulnerable. I warmly thank all the volunteers whose dedication makes this initiative a true model of social cohesion.”
For his part, Karim Ibachirene, president of “Winnelka,” affirmed:
“The month of Ramadan is a unique opportunity to strengthen human bonds. Thanks to the continuous support of our partner Ooredoo, which has mobilized its employees and opened its restaurant for this operation, we can offer hot meals every day to a significant number of beneficiaries under the best possible conditions.”
The “Kasser Syamek” Operation in Hospitals
In parallel, “Kasser Syamek” (Break Your Fast) boxes, containing basic food items to break the fast, are prepared daily. These are distributed to fasters within the emergency services of hospital establishments across Algiers.
Through this mobilization, Ooredoo Algeria confirms its determination to strengthen its solidarity actions throughout the holy month, consolidating its status as a corporate citizen close to society.
