Algiers, Algeria | In a decisive and high-precision operation, the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) has once again demonstrated its unyielding resolve in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and the security of its citizens. Four armed terrorists — operating within cross-border extremist groups — were eliminated on Saturday, August 9, 2025, by a detachment of the Army’s Security Services in the country’s southeast border zone, within the 4th Military Region.

According to an official communiqué from the Ministry of National Defence (MDN), the terrorists, armed with four Kalashnikov-type submachine guns, attempted to infiltrate Algerian territory from abroad. Swift intelligence coordination and operational readiness enabled the ANP to intercept and neutralize the threat before any breach of national security could occur.

The eliminated individuals have been identified as Amrani Moad, Bousbaa Houssam, Ghadir Bachir Maamer, and Bedghiou Okba — all active members of terrorist formations operating outside the country.

“This operation reaffirms, once again, the vigilance, operational superiority, and unwavering determination of the People’s National Army to eliminate anyone who dares to cross our borders and threaten the safety of our citizens,” the MDN statement asserted.

This latest counter-terrorism success comes amid ongoing regional instability and persistent attempts by hostile groups to exploit border areas. Algeria’s southern and southeastern frontiers — stretching across vast, harsh, and strategically sensitive terrain — remain under continuous surveillance, backed by elite units, advanced detection systems, and proactive security doctrine.
