ALGIERS- The Gara Djebilet mine in the Tindouf province stands out as a cornerstone of Algeria’s profound transformation policy under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Once a topic of conversation for many without seeing the light, Gara Djebilet, this mine that has existed for centuries and required extensive research, is now realizing an old dream.

Projects for the exploitation of this mine, which is rich in immense wealth, have been ongoing for over 60 years without coming to fruition. President Tebboune took the initiative, believing firmly that Algeria will become a mining force and an emerging power. He decided to put an end to the dormant projects for Gara Djebilet, responding to the high expectations of the citizens of Tindouf who hold great hopes for the exploitation of this “precious” mine.

Entering the mining phase has become a reality.

President Tebboune, who is outlining Algeria’s perspectives for 2030 and 2040, also decided to provide Tindouf with a railway line. The inhabitants of Tindouf have been demanding for decades the connection of their province to the railway network.

In this regard, one of the citizens of Tindouf, who came to welcome the President, said, “The train to Tindouf, it’s a dream come true.”

Tindouf, on November 30, 2023, marked its entry into the global arena. It was a historic event, especially for President Tebboune’s visit, the first by a head of state to this province that has long suffered from neglect.
