Algiers, Algeria | In a moment of unparalleled gravity in the modern history of the Middle East, Algeria has condemned “with the greatest firmness” the policies of the Zionist entity, which has transformed hunger into a weapon of war against the besieged people of Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the official declaration by the United Nations of a state of famine in Gaza does not stem from any natural disaster or inevitable circumstance, but from deliberate and premeditated acts of occupation. This calculated starvation, imposed on over two million Palestinians, is neither incidental nor accidental—it is an instrument of domination, coercion, and extermination.

Algiers highlighted that this unprecedented declaration of famine is intimately linked to broader schemes: forced displacement, military reoccupation of Gaza, and the sinister expansionist vision of the so-called “Greater Israel.” These projects, Algeria warned, reveal the true scope of the Zionist agenda, which seeks not only to dismantle Palestinian resistance but to erase Palestine itself from the map.

“This famine,” the communiqué declared, “is a political decision, a crime of methodical cruelty, and an affront to every principle of international law and human conscience.” Algeria underscored that such practices amount to nothing less than genocide by attrition, carried out under the watch of a world order too often paralyzed by double standards.

As a current member of the United Nations Security Council, Algeria renewed its call for the international community—and particularly the Council itself—to assume its responsibilities without delay. The urgent task is clear: dismantle the project of “Greater Israel,” uphold the viability of the two-state solution, and enforce accountability on the Zionist entity for crimes that can no longer be ignored or rationalized.

In the same breath, Algeria reaffirmed its unwavering diplomatic commitment to the Palestinian cause, vowing to intensify efforts until the establishment of a fully sovereign and independent Palestinian State with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its eternal capital.
