Algiers, Algeria | July 4th, 2025 — On the eve of Algeria’s 63rd Independence Day, commemorated on July 5, 2025, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), issued a message of unity and vigilance, reaffirming the ANP’s unwavering allegiance to the sacred legacy of the martyrs of the national liberation struggle.

In his address, General Chanegriha extended heartfelt congratulations to all members of the ANP—officers, non-commissioned officers, and civilian personnel—commending their exemplary dedication to safeguarding Algeria’s security and sovereignty. Despite a volatile regional and international environment marked by growing threats, he praised their unwavering commitment to duty.

“The People’s National Army,” the General emphasized, “remains the worthy heir of the National Liberation Army and will forever remain faithful to the noble testament of our heroic martyrs.”

Highlighting the profound historical significance of Independence Day, General Chanegriha described it as a symbol of Algeria’s “landmark victory over French colonialism,” a triumph made possible by the colossal sacrifices of generations of patriots—from early popular uprisings to the victorious national liberation war.

In the face of today’s complex and evolving security landscape, General Chanegriha called on Algeria’s armed forces to remain vigilant, disciplined, and ready—emulating the spirit and determination of their forebears. He drew attention to the ANP’s major achievements in combating terrorism remnants, organized crime, smuggling, and irregular migration—challenges he characterized as persistent threats to national stability and territorial integrity.

The Chief of Staff also lauded the remarkable performance demonstrated during last year’s combat exercises, which, he asserted, reflected the ANP’s high level of operational readiness and mastery of its constitutional missions. These results, he stressed, reinforce Algeria’s posture as a sovereign state with robust defense capabilities.

As Algeria marks over six decades of independence, General Chanegriha urged all military personnel to honor the memory of the martyrs of the Revolution and those who fell in the line of duty. He called on the ranks to draw inspiration from their courage and sacrifice to enhance the execution of their noble missions and uphold the values that forged the nation.

“Let us remain faithful to our sacred duty,” the General concluded, “and let us rise to the expectations of the people, who look to their army as a symbol of strength, sovereignty, and honor.”
