General Saïd Chanegriha Oversees “Soumoud 2025” Tactical Exercise in Second Military Region

Live-Fire Drill Demonstrates Algeria’s High Combat Readiness, Operational Coordination, and Strategic Command Proficiency Across Military Echelons

Algiers, Algeria | May 27th, 2025 — As part of Algeria’s unwavering commitment to military preparedness and national defense, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), personally supervised on Tuesday the execution of a high-intensity live-fire tactical exercise dubbed “Soumoud 2025”, during the second day of his inspection visit to the Second Military Region.

According to an official communiqué from the Ministry of National Defence (MDN), the exercise was conducted by the 36th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, with support from units belonging to various branches and specialized forces of the ANP. It marked the culmination of the 2024–2025 combat training year, serving as a critical evaluation of the troops’ operational capabilities and their readiness to respond to modern security threats.

Held at the firing and maneuvering range of the region, General Chanegriha was joined by Major General Mohamed Tayeb Brakni, Commander of the Second Military Region. The General was first briefed by the Commander of the 36th Mechanized Infantry Brigade on the exercise’s general concept, strategic objectives, and phases of execution. The drill aimed to enhance combat capacity, sharpen command coordination, and train military leadership in operational planning, decision-making, and execution under real threat scenarios.

Throughout the exercise, General Chanegriha closely monitored the combat actions of the deployed units. The operations were distinguished by their high degree of professionalism, outstanding tactical and operational execution, and the strategic cohesion of command at all levels. The performance of the forces showcased a strong synergy between units and optimal terrain exploitation.

The MDN underlined that the exercise revealed the personnel’s superior skill and mastery in using advanced weapons systems and equipment, which translated into precise and effective firepower across various weapon platforms. The live-fire sequences confirmed the ANP’s ability to conduct joint operations with speed, precision, and discipline.

Following the exercise, General Chanegriha personally met with the servicemen who took part in the drill. He praised the outcome as a resounding success on all fronts, particularly in the realms of planning, preparation, and execution, reflecting the remarkable level of operational readiness achieved during the 2024–2025 training cycle.

He further commended the commanders and personnel for their dedication, technical skill, and high command aptitude, underscoring the strategic necessity of sustaining this momentum to elevate all components of the ANP. He reiterated that such military excellence is vital to preserving Algeria’s national security and ensuring lasting stability.

The Army General concluded his visit by inspecting the units of the 36th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, as well as other participating formations, saluting their professionalism and commitment.

The success of “Soumoud 2025” stands as a testament to the ANP’s strategic depth, operational dexterity, and its continuous evolution in line with contemporary defense challenges.
