General Saïd Chanegriha Reaffirms ANP’s Role as Pillar of National Sovereignty on National Army Day

Algiers, Algeria | On the occasion of National Army Day, observed annually on August 4, General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), delivered a resolute and patriotic message to the personnel of the ANP, underlining the armed forces’ unwavering role in safeguarding Algeria’s sovereignty, unity, and security in the face of persistent threats and conspiracies.

In his address, General Chanegriha conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, and paid homage to the heroic martyrs of the War of Liberation as well as the fallen soldiers in the line of duty. “The sacrifices of our righteous martyrs are a sacred trust in our hands. It is incumbent upon us to preserve their legacy so that Algeria remains unshakable in the face of its enemies,” he emphasized.

Drawing a direct link between the strength of the ANP and the endurance of the Algerian state, the General underscored the military’s foundational role in maintaining the country’s independence, stability, and sovereignty. “The fate of a free, secure, and sovereign Algeria lies in the hands of its loyal sons,” he declared, asserting that the ANP remains fully mobilized and ready to confront any challenges, regardless of their origin.

Amid a turbulent geopolitical context, Chanegriha warned against the machinations of adversaries seeking to destabilize Algeria. He called on the members of the ANP to display heightened vigilance and unwavering discipline: “You are duty-bound to pursue your efforts with determination and perseverance so that our armed forces remain the unbreakable shield protecting Algeria under all circumstances.”

In conclusion, the Chief of Staff urged all military personnel to uphold the highest standards of commitment and professionalism in fulfilling their constitutional mission. “Remain steadfast in your devotion to the noble task of ensuring the security of the Algerian people. The defence of the nation is a sacred mission, and our readiness must remain absolute,” he affirmed.

The commemoration of National Army Day serves as a solemn reminder of the pivotal role played by the ANP in the defence of Algeria’s sovereignty and a tribute to the valor and sacrifices of the men and women in uniform who continue to embody the enduring spirit of the Algerian nation.
