Algiers – December 2025 – In a resolute reaffirmation of Algeria’s strategic commitment to its closest neighbor, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb underscored in Tunis on Thursday the profound interest President Abdelmadjid Tebboune places on elevating Algerian-Tunisian relations to new heights of cooperation, integration, and shared development.
Speaking at the conclusion of an audience granted to him by Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed — an encounter held as part of Ghrieb’s official visit to Tunisia for the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian High Joint Commission — the Prime Minister emphasized the depth of political will uniting the two heads of state.
He stated that he had the “honor” of conveying the fraternal greetings of President Tebboune to President Saïed, while reiterating “the particular and unwavering interest” the Algerian Head of State devotes to strengthening bilateral ties across all fronts.
Ghrieb highlighted the “strong determination” of President Tebboune to continue joint efforts with his Tunisian counterpart with the aim of propelling the partnership toward “greater strategic integration and solidary, integrated development,” in line with the approach laid out during the Algerian President’s State Visit to Tunisia in December 2021. He added that President Saïed, for his part, expressed “the deep esteem” he holds for President Tebboune and his commitment to intensifying cooperative efforts.
The Prime Minister noted that he listened “with great attention” to President Saïed’s insightful assessments on how best to deepen cooperation and mobilize the full breadth of opportunities available, in order to “elevate the partnership to its highest levels.” He further indicated that the meeting allowed both sides to review preparations for the High Joint Commission scheduled for the following day, stressing the need to seize this milestone to reinforce the legal and institutional frameworks governing cooperation, thereby creating favorable conditions for an expanded bilateral partnership that fully reflects the aspirations of the two fraternal peoples.
Turning to economic prospects, Ghrieb highlighted the “promising opportunities” for expanding trade exchanges and boosting bilateral investment — central themes of the Algerian-Tunisian Economic Forum convening the same evening with the participation of a large number of economic operators from both countries. The forum, he said, stands as a reaffirmation of the “immense potential” of the bilateral economic partnership and its critical role in driving development and well-being in both nations.
Ghrieb stressed that this gathering constitutes an “important step” toward building an integrated partnership powered by joint Algerian and Tunisian institutions, competencies, and shared efforts — a partnership designed to advance a “promising future” for the two neighboring peoples and states.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong convergence of views between Algiers and Tunis regarding regional and international issues of mutual concern, foremost among them the Palestinian question and the means of supporting the brotherly Palestinian people in reclaiming their legitimate rights through the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
The discussions additionally addressed regional developments, particularly the situation in Libya, as well as the ways in which both countries can contribute to reviving the political settlement process in this neighboring and brotherly nation.
