Algiers – November 2025 – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb arrived in the commune of Hadjeret Ennous late Thursday night to assess first-hand the progress of firefighting operations battling the intense forest fires sweeping across the Tipasa region. His visit, undertaken in the critical hours of the night, underscored the government’s resolve to remain physically present on the front line of the unfolding emergency.

Ghrieb was received by the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, who headed a high-level ministerial and security delegation that included the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, the Director-General of Civil Protection, the Wali of Tipasa, as well as senior civilian and military officials. The strong ministerial presence reflected the gravity of the situation and the government’s commitment to a coordinated, multisectoral response.

On site, the Prime Minister listened attentively to the technical briefing delivered by Colonel Boualem Bourelaf, Director-General of Civil Protection, who detailed the current state of the firefighting operations, the evolution of the flames, and the extensive means deployed to contain them. The delegation then proceeded to the mountainous heights of Messelmoun, one of the most affected areas, where they inspected the fire zones and observed the exhaustive efforts of the intervention teams engaged in extinguishing the blaze.

Demonstrating a parallel concern for human impact, Ghrieb, alongside Sayoud and the accompanying officials, visited families evacuated as a precautionary measure and temporarily housed in local facilities. The Prime Minister offered words of reassurance and solidarity, ensuring that the displaced residents were receiving proper care and support. Clear instructions were issued to local authorities to provide all necessary conditions for their safety and well-being until the situation stabilizes.
