Gold Mines: Examining Means to Promote Investment

Algiers- Algeria, May 5, 2024 – The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, hosted a delegation from the Algerian Gold and Jewelry Organization at the ministry headquarters on Saturday. The delegation, headed by President Aissa Ameghchouche, engaged in discussions with the minister regarding the cooperation between mining sector establishments and the organization, as well as strategies to boost investment in gold production, as outlined in a ministry statement.

The meeting, attended by ministry officials, focused on reviewing the existing cooperation between mining sector establishments and the Algerian Gold and Jewelry Organization, particularly in commercial activities with the National Agency for Transformation and Distribution of Gold and Precious Metals (AGENOR).

Additionally, opportunities for collaboration with mining sector institutions, including the Gold Mining Company (ENOR), were explored to encourage investment and involvement in gold exploration, prospecting, and production activities. Mr. Ameghchouche provided an overview of the organization’s initiatives, established in 2019, aimed at advancing the gold sector in Algeria. These initiatives include restructuring and organizing the jewelry and precious metals sector, amending laws governing the sector, and fostering interest among young individuals to enter this field, the statement concluded.
