The publication stresses that Algeria will not compromise when it comes to defending the eternal symbols of its past. “Preserving the most precious heritage left by our illustrious ancestors and protecting the sacred legacy entrusted to us demands unwavering allegiance to our glorious history and authentic memory,” the magazine declares. It further emphasizes that history is “the beating heart of our homeland, the artery nourishing its present and shaping its future, the guiding light for successive generations in building a strong, secure, and prosperous nation, inspired by the noble values of loyalty, heroism, and sacrifice that have defined the greatness of our forebears.”
Yet, El Djeich warns that in moments when such historical anchoring is most needed, opportunistic pseudo-scholars occasionally arise, arrogantly claiming mastery over the secrets of Algeria’s past and geography, seeking to belittle the nation’s glorious heritage and undermine its symbols. The magazine criticizes those who “misinterpret such acts as freedom of expression or mere difference of opinion,” clarifying that genuine intellectual discourse must always be guided by the supreme interests of the nation, its immutable values, and a framework that unites rather than divides.
El Djeich further stresses that “falsifying, disparaging, or casting doubt on our memory, history, identity, roots, and symbols under the pretext of freedom of expression is an affront worse than the offense itself,” describing such acts as a direct assault on the sacrifices of men and women who ensured the Algerian people could live free and dignified lives on their blessed land. Algeria’s history, the magazine reminds readers, is punctuated by eternal stages authored by patriots who safeguarded its glory at the cost of what they held most dear.
The publication revisits Algeria’s heroic past, highlighting figures of courage and selflessness, particularly during the colonial occupation, when foreign powers sought to erase national identity and obliterate cultural and civilizational foundations. “Our country became the theater of successive resistances to reclaim usurped land and confiscated liberty,” the magazine notes, “from which the National Liberation Army emerged, a revolution as grand in scope as it was noble in purpose, aimed at freeing the nation from domination, tyranny, and humiliation.”
El Djeich underscores that the revolution united all men of honor around the project of national sovereignty and the construction of an independent Algeria, forever tied to the sacred values of November and the virtues of its selfless patriots. “These heroes remain eternal in the memory of the homeland and of successive generations, their names etched in the register of our history, surpassing all skeptics, detractors, and fabricators.”
Finally, the magazine delineates a strict boundary for discourse on Algerian history. “Our glorious history, with its immortal symbols and luminous milestones, constitutes a red line that admits no compromise, distortion, or denigration,” it states. This historical consciousness is described as the “protective bulwark of the homeland,” with its defense framed as both a sacred duty and a national responsibility, ensuring the loyalty of future generations to those who came before.
El Djeich concludes with a warning to those who would manipulate the past: all such attempts are destined to fail, likened to a lame horse ridden by the envious and opportunistic, while simultaneously strengthening the Algerian people’s attachment to their authentic history, national memory, and the long struggle for freedom, land, and sovereignty. The publication affirms that unity and cohesion — hallmarks of Algeria’s historical trajectory — remain the essential resources for confronting contemporary challenges, guiding the nation toward development, prosperity, and victory. “An Algeria faithful to its historical, geographical, and cultural depth is a source of unity, unshakable and resolute, the compass guiding its victorious march toward progress and triumph,” it concludes.
