Algiers, Algeria, August 21, 2023– In a solemn and heartfelt gathering, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), led a poignant ceremony on Monday at the Central Hospital of the Army “Mohamed Seghir Nekkache.” The event was organized to pay homage to the late General Rachid Harrat, who served as the Director General of Communications and Telecommunications Security at the Presidency of the Republic, and whose untimely passing has left a void in the hearts of many.

General Harrat’s passing on Sunday marked the end of a distinguished chapter in Algeria’ security apparatus. To honor his memory and legacy, high-ranking officials from various branches of the Algerian armed forces and governmental bodies assembled to offer their final respects. Among those in attendance were Army General Ben Ali Ben Ali, the Commander of the Republican Guard, as well as the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Force Commanders, the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, and the Commander of the 1st Military Region. The presence of these figures highlighted the unity and solidarity of Algeria’s defense and security establishment in the face of loss.

During the ceremony, General Chanegriha conveyed his deepest condolences on his own behalf and on behalf of all ANP executives and personnel to the grieving family of the late General Harrat. In his touching tribute, General Chanegriha not only commemorated General Harrat’s honorable professional journey but also implored Allah the Almighty for comfort and fortitude for the bereaved family.
