Humanitarian Support During Ramadan: ARC, GUAMA Unite in Convention

ALGIERS- A convention was signed on Wednesday between the Algerian Red Crescent (ARC) and the General Union of Algerian Merchants and Artisans (GUAMA) with the aim of supporting solidarity operations for needy families, especially during the month of Ramadan.

In this context, the Secretary-General of the Union, Issam Bedrissi, explained that this initiative aims to “support the efforts of the public authorities and contribute to solidarity operations supervised by the Algerian Red Crescent.”

Under this convention, signed at the headquarters of the ARC, “the GUAMA will contribute, first and foremost, to supplying mercy restaurants that will be opened across the country during the upcoming month of Ramadan.”

Bedrissi added that “on this occasion, the first batch of these aids, consisting of five trucks loaded with various food products and supplies for the sacred month, has been received.”

On the other hand, the President of the Algerian Red Crescent, Ibtissem Hamlaoui, praised the initiative of the Union to support solidarity operations, emphasizing that the Union “has committed to supporting the efforts of the institution to meet the needs of needy families, especially on special occasions.” She recalled that the Algerian Red Crescent “will supervise during the month of Ramadan 284 mercy restaurants across the country, providing 3 million meals daily to the needy and passersby.”

In this regard, the Algerian Red Crescent plans to “distribute at least 153,190 food parcels to needy families throughout the national territory.”
