IATF 2025: Algeria’s GISB Electric Secures $480 Million Export Deal with Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire

Algiers – September 2025 – In an achievement underscoring Algeria’s rising economic influence on the African continent, GISB Electric, a leading Algerian manufacturer of electrical equipment, has concluded contracts worth an impressive 480 million dollars with SOGELUX, a major distributor of electrical technologies operating in both Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. The contracts were formalized on the sidelines of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), a strategic platform consolidating Africa’s economic integration.
The high-profile signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Agency for the Promotion of Investment, Ayman El Zoghbi, Director of Trade, Investments, and Financial Cooperation at the African Export-Import Bank, and Ali Oumlal, representative of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA). Their presence highlighted the political and economic weight of this agreement, seen as a blueprint for future intra-African industrial cooperation.
Under the terms of the deal, GISB Electric will export electrical equipment valued at 480 million dollars over the course of three years to Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. Beyond this initial framework, the agreement paves the way for a broader expansion into the West African regional market (ECOWAS), further consolidating Algeria’s role as a major supplier of advanced electrical technologies.
Significantly, the accords also include provisions for industrial investments worth 180 million dollars to be deployed directly in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. These investments will bolster local industrial infrastructure, create employment opportunities, and deepen technological cooperation in the electrical industries sector.
This landmark initiative aligns with Algeria’s broader economic diversification strategy, steering its industrial expansion away from hydrocarbons and towards value-added manufacturing and regional export leadership. By extending its reach into West Africa through long-term industrial commitments, Algeria positions itself as both a continental supplier of electrical solutions and a reliable partner in Africa’s collective march towards economic self-reliance.
