In a statement to Elayem News, Dzair Tube’s Director Maamar Gani outlines the strategic role of digital journalism in defending Algeria’s national sovereignty, reinforcing public awareness, and confronting foreign media disinformation with professionalism and patriotic clarity.

Algiers, Algeria | May 14th, 2025 — In an interview with Elayem News, Maamar Gani, the director and founder of Algeria’s influential electronic media platform Dzair Tube, emphasized the critical role of digital journalism in shaping public awareness and constructing a strong, united national media front to defend Algeria against disinformation campaigns and foreign media assaults.

 

“Digital journalism,” Gani affirmed, “is no longer a complementary form of reporting—it has become a decisive weapon in the battle for awareness and sovereignty.” He highlighted the electronic press’s real-time news coverage, direct interaction with the public, and its growing influence on public opinion through social media platforms. For Gani, this evolving landscape demands a strategic investment in digital journalism as a cornerstone of national security and social cohesion.

Gani sees the digital press not as a passive observer but as the tip of the spear in Algeria’s media resistance: “Today, electronic journalism represents the vanguard of a strong, effective media front that stands firm in defense of Algeria.” Unlike traditional media, digital platforms combine text, audio, and visual storytelling in a single, integrated format—allowing for a level of reach, immediacy, and impact that outpaces legacy outlets.

Moreover, the rise of social media has transformed how citizens engage with news content. Gani notes that this dynamic has empowered digital platforms to generate and shape public discourse: “On a single page, citizens can read, interact, comment, and engage—giving electronic media an unprecedented ability to manufacture public opinion and influence collective sentiment.”

This capacity, he adds, positions the digital press not only as a news source but as a platform for conscious mobilization: a strategic tool that must be wielded wisely in what he describes as today’s “media battlefield.”

Social Media: An Interactive Extension of the National Media Front

According to Gani, social media platforms have become the interactive arm of the national media front, offering immediate expression, open debate, and widespread dissemination of patriotic content. These platforms, he says, are crucial for reflecting the public pulse and countering hostile propaganda aimed at destabilizing Algeria’s unity and institutions.

Public engagement through likes, shares, comments, and symbolic interaction—particularly among the youth—demonstrates strong resonance with nationalist media narratives. This organic engagement, Gani argues, transforms digital platforms into powerful tools of awareness, vital in confronting coordinated disinformation campaigns.

“Mass awareness,” he insists, “is built through information and direct interaction—and today’s digital tools make that possible in real-time.”

A Strategic Investment in the Media of the Future

Building on this vision, Gani called upon Algeria’s top state institutions to recognize and invest in electronic journalism as the journalism of the future. With flexible technical capabilities and a talented pool of young professionals, Algeria’s digital press, he argues, must be empowered and institutionalized as a vital shield in the country’s cyber defense strategy.

“This investment,” Gani stated, “must be both technological and institutional—focusing on support, incentives, and training—to transform the digital press into a resilient cyber wall against disinformation attacks launched via modern media tools.”

He underscores the stakes: “Today’s confrontation is between an honest, patriotic narrative and a malignant, well-orchestrated one aimed at shaking Algeria’s stability and dismantling its social fabric through fake news and manipulated coverage.”

Enhancing National Unity Through Responsible Journalism

Gani believes electronic journalism is also uniquely positioned to reinforce national cohesion, nurture a sense of collective belonging, and sensitize citizens—especially the youth—to the internal and external threats facing Algeria. These missions, he argues, are essential for building a robust and resilient national media front capable of defending Algeria’s image and fortifying the consciousness of its people.

Dzair Tube: A Patriotic Mission in Action

Demonstrating this editorial philosophy in practice, Gani detailed how Dzair Tube has, since its inception, adopted a patriotic line, guided by a deep-rooted conviction that “serving the homeland is a priority, a mission, and a trust.”

The channel, managed by a youthful team of 40 professionals, produces multimedia content across three languages—Arabic, English, and French—delivering Algeria’s voice to a broad national and international audience. Dzair Tube’s content strategy spans politics, society, religion, and culture, with a particular emphasis on sports, which Gani sees as a gateway to engage the country’s younger generation—“the bedrock of the national media front.”

“The stability and awareness of youth,” he adds, “constitute the first line of defense against hostile agendas and disinformation.”
