Algiers, Algeria | In the wake of the devastating bus accident that claimed multiple lives last Friday in Oued El Harrach, Algiers, the Algerian government has sought to reaffirm its unwavering solidarity with the grieving families. On Monday, the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies and Regional Planning, Ibrahim Merad, personally led a high-level delegation to extend condolences on behalf of the State.

Accompanied by the Minister of Water Resources, Tahar Derbal, Merad traveled across four eastern provinces — Biskra, Ouled Djellal, Batna, and Khenchela — to meet directly with the bereaved. His presence, officials noted, was not only a gesture of compassion but also a clear indication of the government’s commitment to stand by its citizens during moments of profound loss.

In a statement released by the Interior Ministry, it was emphasized that Merad’s mission was undertaken expressly “on behalf of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” carrying with it the deepest sympathies of the nation’s highest office. The communiqué underscored that President Tebboune’s thoughts remain with the victims’ families, and that the State regards their pain as a collective grief shared by the Algerian people as a whole.
