International Workshop on Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen: Sofiane Chaib Reaffirms the State’s Commitment to the Algerian Diaspora

Algiers – November 2025 – The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, reaffirmed on Monday Algeria’s unwavering commitment to engaging its diaspora in the country’s national development strategy, particularly in the vital sectors of renewable energy and green hydrogen.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Third International Workshop on Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen, organized by the Algerian Club of Excellence and High Competence, Chaib underscored the State’s determination to strengthen institutional bridges with Algerian professionals abroad. The two-day event gathered a large number of experts and researchers from across the world, notably those active in renewable energy, environmental technologies, and sustainable development.
In his address, Chaib emphasized the “particular attention the Algerian State accords to its highly skilled diaspora,” describing them as a strategic asset in the nation’s pursuit of energy transition and innovation-driven growth. He outlined that the government has adopted a series of strategic programs and mechanisms aimed at deepening the connection between Algerian professionals abroad and their homeland, while encouraging their active contribution to the country’s transformation agenda.
The Secretary of State praised the “unwavering commitment and patriotic spirit” of Algerian experts living overseas, highlighting their readiness to share scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and innovative solutions to address the pressing challenges of sustainable energy and climate resilience. “This commitment,” he said, “is a living testament to their enduring attachment to Algeria and their determination to contribute meaningfully to its development.”
Chaib further stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the empowerment of the diaspora as a national priority, aiming to ensure optimal support, coordination, and integration of their initiatives within Algeria’s strategic sectors. This includes facilitating cooperation frameworks between research institutions, industrial actors, and members of the Algerian scientific community abroad.
