Investments in Algeria: AAPI Directs Focus Toward Strategic Sectors

ALGIERS, March 17th, 2026 — Algeria is prioritizing investments in its key economic sectors, with the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) taking the lead in channeling projects toward areas that are high-potential, strategic, and capable of generating significant added value.
Reaffirming its role as a catalyst in Algeria’s national investment dynamic, the AAPI has intensified its engagement with economic operators and institutions. Through a proactive approach, the agency aims to ensure that investment projects align with sectors that promise the greatest economic impact—a strategy spearheaded by AAPI Director General, Omar Rekkache.
Aligning Investments with National Economic Priorities
Following a meeting with the Minister of Domestic Trade, during which the importance of directing investment projects in accordance with national market needs was emphasized, the AAPI continues to hold strategic discussions with key economic players. The goal is to strengthen coherence in investment orientation and to support productive economic growth within the domestic trade sector.
In line with this vision, Omar Rekkache hosted a delegation from Algeria Chemical Specialities (ACS), led by its CEO Samir Yahiaoui, at the AAPI headquarters. The meeting was more than a formal courtesy—it was a strategic platform to align investment projects with Algeria’s economic priorities and accelerate their practical realization on the ground.
These dialogues serve as strategic levers to structure productive investments. They identify high-impact projects, facilitate their maturation, and ensure alignment with the real needs of the Algerian market. The ultimate objective is to build a more resilient economy, less dependent on imports, and focused on creating sustainable wealth and employment.
Strengthening Algeria’s Industrial Base
Within this framework, the AAPI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting project developers. Omar Rekkache emphasized: “The agency stands ready to assist the holding company in implementing its productive and priority investment projects for the national economy, providing all necessary facilitation and support throughout the investment process.” This support, he noted, will accelerate project implementation and strengthen the country’s industrial foundation.
Algeria Chemical Specialities (ACS) itself represents a leading industrial player. Far from being an ordinary group, ACS boasts substantial potential, with four industrial complexes and seven public economic enterprises. Active in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, ACS produces a wide range of strategic materials—from plastics to glass, detergents, paints, and personal care products. During the meeting, CEO Samir Yahiaoui presented the company’s transformative projects planned for the coming years.
Seeking National and International Partnerships
Key projects include the production of fiberglass, optical fiber, sodium carbonate, reverse osmosis membranes, and various forms of ink. These high-value complexes are designed to strengthen Algeria’s production chains and reduce dependence on imports. Yahiaoui highlighted that ACS is actively seeking national and international partners to realize these initiatives and emphasized the importance of close coordination with the AAPI at every stage.
Through such targeted engagements, the AAPI demonstrates its central role in shaping Algeria’s investment landscape. The agency is not merely promoting projects—it is strategically directing them toward sectors that are national priorities and capable of generating real economic value. This approach aligns fully with government objectives to make productive investment a driving force of sustainable growth. By structuring dialogue between institutions and economic operators, the AAPI is paving the most effective path toward a diversified and competitive Algerian economy.
