Journalists’ Briefing Marks Algeria’s Strategic Preparations for IATF 2025

Algiers, Algeria | Algiers is entering the final stretch of preparations to host the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), scheduled for September 4–10, 2025. As part of these efforts, the Ministry of Communication will convene an information day on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center, offering journalists and media professionals a privileged insight into the organization of this landmark continental event.
The session will be chaired by the Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, alongside the commissioner of IATF 2025, Larbi Latrèche, and the strategist and sustainable development expert, Mouloud Khelif. Their intervention will not only highlight the logistical and institutional readiness of Algeria, but also underline the far-reaching strategic stakes of this unprecedented African economic gathering.
Algeria’s Historic Role Reaffirmed
Patrick Ndzana Olomo, Director of Economic Development at the African Union Commission, has described the IATF as far more than a marketplace: it is a strategic and symbolic milestone. By bringing the fourth edition of the fair to Algiers, Algeria renews its historic tradition of supporting African liberation movements and defending continental sovereignty. Hosting the IATF thus represents a continuation of Algeria’s role as a cradle of liberation and a vanguard of Pan-African solidarity, reaffirming that economic emancipation is the natural extension of Africa’s anti-colonial struggle.
A Showcase of Algerian Potential
The IATF will also serve as a unique stage for Algeria to project its economic capabilities. From energy and agriculture to pharmaceuticals and industrial know-how, Algeria intends to demonstrate that it is not merely a consumer market but a production hub and export powerhouse. With flagship projects such as the Trans-Saharan Highway and the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP), Algeria positions itself as a logistical and energy backbone for Africa, vital to the flow of trade and development.

This endeavor bears the imprint of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s direct involvement. His personal commitment to ensuring the success of the IATF underscores that Algeria views the fair not as a ceremonial event, but as a strategic lever for reshaping Africa’s economic architecture. The country’s recent accession to the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) further signals Algeria’s readiness to liberate intra-African trade from dependency on foreign currencies—a revolutionary step toward true economic sovereignty.
