ALGIERS โ February 19, 2026 โ Mahboub Betahar, Director General of the Economic Enterprise for the Development and Marketing of Wholesale Markets, MAGRO, affirmed that the group is mobilising all its logistical and organisational capacities to guarantee the steady availability of fruits and vegetables and facilitate citizensโ access to essential foodstuffs, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking in the context of ongoing national efforts to stabilise markets and secure widely consumed goods, Betahar stressed that MAGRO, as a public economic entity overseeing the organisation and facilitation of wholesale market activity, is working around the clock to ensure the smooth circulation of agricultural products across its network of markets throughout the week. Efforts are intensified during Ramadan in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, with the aim of safeguarding consumer comfort and enabling Algerian households to welcome the sacred month under optimal supply conditions.
Betahar further noted that the groupโs points of sale are deployed across multiple wilayas nationwide, offering agricultural produce at reasonable prices in a regulated environment designed to preserve market balance, guarantee supply continuity, and shield citizens from shortages or speculative practices.
He concluded that MAGROโs coordinated operations reflect a broader state strategy to secure food supply chains, uphold purchasing power, and ensure that the rhythm of Ramadan is marked by abundance, stability, and equitable access to essential goods across Algeria.
