Minister Bouamama Calls for a Strong National Media Capable of Embracing Digital Transformation

Algiers – October 2025 – In a renewed affirmation of the government’s unwavering commitment to modernizing Algeria’s media landscape, Minister of Communication Zoheir Bouamama presided, on the evening of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, over a meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters with directors of private television channels. The encounter was devoted to assessing the current state of the audiovisual sector and exploring strategies to elevate its professional standards and societal impact.
Minister Bouamama underscored that building a strong, credible, and influential national media begins with professional institutions that possess both the competence and adaptability necessary to navigate the ongoing digital transformations reshaping global communication. He emphasized that professional ethics, objectivity, and integrity must remain the cornerstones of journalistic practice, adding that the creation of high-quality, value-driven content is essential for consolidating national identity and reflecting the aspirations of Algerian society in the era of global media convergence.
The Minister further revealed that the Ministry of Communication is finalizing a set of legal and regulatory texts designed to govern the audiovisual sector, in line with the principles of transparency, accountability, and professionalism. These forthcoming measures aim to establish a modern and coherent legal framework that promotes responsible freedom of expression while fostering fair competition among media institutions.
Bouamama also called for the promotion of purposeful partnerships between public and private media actors, as well as collaboration with emerging content creators and technology stakeholders, to strengthen the national media ecosystem and ensure that Algeria’s voice remains both authentic and globally relevant.
For their part, the directors of private television channels expressed their appreciation for what they described as a constructive and forward-looking dialogue, praising the Ministry’s openness and willingness to engage directly with media professionals. They affirmed their full readiness to contribute to the creation of a balanced, responsible, and innovative media environment that faithfully mirrors the dynamics of the New Algeria under the vision of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
