The QS Arab University Rankings 2026 further cemented Algeria’s dominance, listing 46 Algerian universities, compared to 17 in the previous year, placing the country first in the Maghreb and Arab world. University of Badji Mokhtar – Annaba led nationally, advancing from the 161–170 range to the top tier, illustrating significant national progress.

The ARCIF 2025 report reviewed 364,000 authors and 956,000 scientific articles, revealing that over 111,000 Arab authors were cited, with Algeria’s metrics surpassing expectations. Between 2016 and 2025, Algerian scientific output achieved a 367% growth in journals, 870% growth in reviewed articles, and an astonishing 6,800% growth in cited authors, reflecting an exceptional surge in Arab and Algerian research.
