Minister Mohamed Meziane Champions Media as the Cornerstone of IATF 2025

Algiers, Algeria | With the countdown to the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) underway, set for September 4–10 in Algiers, Algeria is positioning itself at the epicenter of a continental transformation. Minister of Communication Mohamed Meziane has called for nothing less than a comprehensive, integrated, and professional media coverage of what he described as “the largest economic and commercial gathering in Africa.”
For Meziane, the IATF 2025 is more than a fair — it is a strategic battlefield of narratives, an opportunity for Algeria to project itself as the indispensable bridge of African integration, and a platform to showcase the continent’s capacity to craft its own destiny.
Speaking during an information day at the International Conference Center (CIC), in the presence of the IATF Commissioner Larbi Latrèche, development expert Mouloud Khelif, media executives, and journalists, Meziane underscored the decisive role of the press in amplifying the event’s scope.
“Information is not a passive observer; it is an active partner in the success of such continental gatherings. It must reflect the image of an open, secure, and investment-attractive Algeria,” declared the Minister.
By urging journalists to combine professionalism with objectivity, Meziane highlighted the importance of turning IATF 2025 into a global showcase of African resilience, opportunity, and innovation. The event, he insisted, must be covered in a way that maximizes visibility, elevates Africa’s success stories, and inspires confidence among investors and citizens alike.
The minister revealed figures that underline the magnitude of the challenge: over 1,100 requests for accreditation from journalists, technicians, and experts, in addition to 175 requests from foreign media outlets. To meet this demand, the Ministry of Communication has mobilized national public and private platforms, ensuring the deployment of studios, debate panels, interactive spaces, and live expert analyses throughout the fair.
This robust media infrastructure is meant to ensure that the IATF 2025 does not remain confined within conference halls but resonates across Africa and beyond — positioning Algeria as a continental media hub.
Economic Diplomacy and Integration
Framing the fair as more than commerce, Meziane declared that the IATF 2025 embodies Algeria’s commitment to African integration and sovereignty. It dovetails with the strategic vision of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has consistently emphasized “African solutions to African problems.”
The minister stressed that the event would reinforce the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), boost intra-African exchanges, and create fertile ground for sustainable development and regional stability. “This is not only an economic gathering,” he said, “but a political message: Africa is determined to take ownership of its future.”

Unlike traditional trade fairs, IATF 2025 is set to highlight the human and cultural ties that bind Africa’s peoples together. According to Meziane, “The dynamism of Africa will be fully expressed in this fair, whose purpose is to open bridges of cooperation across economic, cultural, and media institutions alike.”
