Minister of Communication Pays Tribute to Late Journalist and Writer Abdelmadjid Kaouah

Algiers, Algeria– Tuesday, July 29, 2025 | The Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, has expressed his deepest condolences following the passing of renowned journalist and writer Abdelmadjid Kaouah, who died on Monday at the age of 75 after a prolonged illness.

In a heartfelt message, Minister Meziane conveyed profound grief over the loss of a prominent figure in Algeria’s intellectual and media landscape. “It is with immense sorrow and deep affliction that I received the news of the death of the journalist and writer Abdelmadjid Kaouah, who passed away on Monday at the age of 75, following a long illness,” stated the minister.

The late Kaouah held numerous key positions within the national press sector. He notably served as director of the newspaper El Wihda (The Unity), and as the permanent correspondent for Le Quotidien d’Oran. His sharp pen and lucid commentary also enriched the pages of Le Soir d’Algérie and Algérie News, where he was a respected columnist.

Beyond journalism, Abdelmadjid Kaouah distinguished himself as a prolific author, publishing several books and literary works. His writings were featured in a range of specialized magazines both in Algeria and internationally, reflecting a lifetime devoted to cultural expression and the promotion of Algerian intellectual heritage.
