Minister of Energy Arkab Addresses Infrastructure Concerns Raised by Local Parliamentarians

ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, met with Abdeldjalil Bendjerad, a member of the Council of the Nation, and Laid Boukraf, a representative in the People’s National Assembly (APN) from the Béni Abbes constituency. The meeting aimed to address several concerns related to the connection of new cities and farms to energy networks, along with the construction project of a power plant in the region, according to a statement from the ministry.

The discussions were part of an ongoing effort to “listen and respond to certain concerns raised by deputies, particularly the connection to energy networks (electricity and gas) of new urban areas, gray areas, and agricultural operations, as well as the construction project of the new power plant.” The statement highlighted the importance of improving public services in the region by enhancing electricity and gas distribution.

During the meeting, the minister provided a detailed overview of the concerns, stating that he had thoroughly examined all proposals with the intention of reviewing and implementing necessary measures to address them.

Minister Arkab reiterated the commitment of his sector and affiliated units to executing and completing energy network connection programs for the benefit of residents and farmers in the region. He also emphasized supporting investment projects, especially in the mining sector, to generate wealth and employment opportunities.

The discussions covered various topics, including employment in sector companies, financing and support for local sports teams, issues related to fuel stations, mobile stations under Naftal, the relocation of the fuel storage tank in the region, as well as ongoing development and social investment projects.
