Algeria and Slovenia Deepen Strategic Cooperation in Health, Social Development, and Humanitarian Action

Algiers, Algeria | June 4th, 2025 —  In a significant diplomatic engagement on Tuesday, Algeria’s Minister of Health, Professor Abdelhak Saihi, and Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Fayçal Bentaleb, held a high-level meeting in Ljubljana with Ms. Mojca Tuch, Adviser to the Slovenian Prime Minister in charge of cooperation, development, and humanitarian aid, and President of the “Danilo Türk” Charitable Foundation.

This strategic dialogue, described as “enriching” in a joint statement released Wednesday by both Algerian ministries, opened new avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in health, social development, and humanitarian relief. The meeting emphasized the vital role of civil society in reinforcing human-centered public policy, highlighting the need for innovative partnerships between state institutions and philanthropic organizations.

A notable point of convergence during the talks was the shared humanitarian stance on the Palestinian cause. Both sides reaffirmed their common commitment to justice, peace, and international solidarity, particularly in supporting Palestinian children subjected to Zionist aggression. This moral alignment, both symbolic and practical, reaffirmed Algeria and Slovenia’s principled stance on global humanitarian issues.

Discussions also explored concrete mechanisms to boost collaboration between public institutions and private foundations, with a view to launching joint pilot projects targeting high-impact social development. The initiatives aim to generate sustainable, real-world change, grounded in a shared vision of inclusive growth and humanitarian outreach.

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement in principle to establish a structured cooperation framework, incorporating the exchange of best practices, technical expertise, capacity building for local actors, and the implementation of actionable programs with clear social and humanitarian objectives.
