Mobilis Secures Top Position with Over 21 Million Subscribers, Maintaining Telecommunications Leadership

ALGIERS- Renowned for its commitment to excellence and distinction, Mobilis continues to outperform expectations, showcasing impressive results year after year. The latest report from the Regulatory Authority for Post and Electronic Communications (ARPCE) reaffirms Mobilis’s position as the frontrunner in mobile telephony subscriptions.
As of June 30, 2023, Mobilis, the historical operator, solidifies its leadership in GSM, 3G, and 4G mobile networks, boasting a remarkable 21.25 million subscribers. This achievement is a testament to Mobilis’s unwavering dedication to providing quality telecommunication services to the Algerian populace.
Following closely is the operator Djezzy, experiencing a slight increase from 15.20 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2023 to 15.27 million in the second quarter of the same year. Despite this growth, Mobilis maintains a substantial lead in the competitive telecommunications landscape.
Ooredoo, on the other hand, witnessed a decrease in its subscriber base, with 12.39 million subscribers in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter’s 12.74 million. The shifting dynamics among the top operators reflect the evolving preferences of the Algerian mobile market.
According to ARPCE figures, there was a general decline in the number of mobile subscribers (GSM, 3G, and 4G), registering a 0.8% decrease from 49.30 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2023 to 48.91 million in the second quarter of the same year.
Breaking down the subscriber base, 45.14 million were subscribed to the 3G/4G network, constituting 92.29% of the total, while 3.77 million remained on the GSM network, representing 7.71%, according to ARPCE’s latest report.
The penetration rate of the mobile network also saw a notable decrease of 0.94 points, dropping from 111.66% on March 31, 2023, to 110.72% on June 30, 2023. ARPCE attributes this decline to the slight regression in the mobile telephony market during this period.
Examining market shares, Mobilis commands 43.45% as of June 30, 2023 (compared to 43.32% on March 31, 2023), Djezzy holds 31.22% (30.84% on March 31, 2023), and Ooredoo maintains a share of 25.33% (25.84% on March 31, 2023).
