Moroccan Political Prisoner Nabil Ahmajik Calls for End to Normalization

Algiers- Algeria, May 9, 2024 – Moroccan political prisoner Nabil Ahmajik, currently serving a 20-year sentence in connection with the Rif protest movement, has issued a message from inside his cell at Tangier 2 prison, condemning the United States for its arbitrary arrests and brutal interventions against peaceful student protests in solidarity with Palestine.

In his message, Ahmajik described these actions as heinous political crimes that will remain a stain on the United States’ record. He emphasized that depriving students of their right to express their opinions and positions is a direct assault on democratic values and a violation of fundamental human rights as outlined in Virginia’s Declaration of Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Ahmajik expressed solidarity with American students protesting on university campuses against the genocidal war and crimes against humanity committed by the Zionist entity against the resilient Palestinian people. He highlighted the irony in restricting freedom of expression in a country symbolized by the Statue of Liberty, especially within educational institutions that are meant to cultivate critical thinking and free the mind from constraints, rather than imposing political agendas and limiting thought within predefined boundaries.

Furthermore, Ahmajik criticized the use of anti-Semitism and hate speech by American politicians, likening it to condemned acts reminiscent of failed Third World dictatorships. He lamented that such actions bring America down to the level of decay it experienced before independence, during the Civil War, and during the pre-civil rights era discrimination against its citizens based on color.

In conclusion, Ahmajik pointed out that these politicians, driven by bribes and privileges offered by the Zionist lobby through the massive deployment of media and financial power, ignore the fact that the United States leads globally due to the technological, economic, and intellectual advancements produced by its universities, professors, and students, rather than by the double-dealing and hypocrisy preached by politicians.
