Moroccan Regime Crosses All Red Lines: Shocking Scenes of Sacrificial Animal Seizures Spark Outrage After Ban on Eid Ritual

In a move condemned as authoritarian and humiliating, Morocco’s regime enforces the unprecedented cancellation of Eid al-Adha sacrifices, triggering mass confiscations, home raids, and widespread public fury.

Algiers, Algeria | June 2nd, 2025 — In a decision that has sent shockwaves across the Muslim world, the Moroccan regime has taken an unprecedented authoritarian turn by banning the sacred ritual of Eid al-Adha sacrifice and ordering the mass confiscation of livestock prepared for the occasion. The directive issued under the authority of King Mohammed VI, has ignited fierce criticism and disbelief, especially after disturbing footage and photos emerged online showing police forces storming citizens’ homes and seizing their sacrificial animals.

News websites and social media platforms were flooded with videos capturing what many have labeled “a national disgrace.” One particularly shocking video depicts Moroccan security agents entering private homes and dragging away sheep intended for the religious observance. Several images showed the animals being forcibly restrained, even shackled in chains, in what users described as “a scene of humiliation that mirrors the regime’s disregard for Islamic values and popular dignity.”

Despite skepticism surrounding the authenticity of some satirical posts, the core facts have been verified by multiple local sources. According to one Moroccan newspaper, strict orders were handed down to provincial governors and security officials in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region, instructing them to tighten surveillance, prevent any sale or transport of livestock, and to suppress all visible expressions of the Eid ritual.

The regional governor of Tangier chaired an emergency meeting attended by district leaders and police commanders, during which directives were issued to confiscate animals being marketed illegally and to record violations with full legal documentation. In the city of Tétouan and surrounding areas, checkpoints were set up to halt any trucks transporting livestock into urban centers for weekend markets. Authorities confirmed that the ban extended to the mere transfer of sacrificial animals to markets and public spaces, further asserting that livestock would be seized and fines imposed across all districts in the region.

This escalation follows the controversial royal announcement setting Saturday, June 7, 2025, as the date for Eid al-Adha in Morocco—a day later than the majority of Arab and Muslim nations, which will mark the occasion on Friday, June 6. The discrepancy, compounded by the regime’s outright ban on the sacrifice ritual, led many Moroccans to denounce what they perceive as a deliberate attempt to dismantle religious traditions under the pretext of drought-induced livestock shortages.

On social media, Moroccans and other Arab users slammed the Makhzen regime, accusing it of isolating itself from the Islamic world and criminalizing one of Islam’s most sacred rites. Critics were especially enraged by the monarch’s earlier pledge to “offer the sacrifice on behalf of the people,” a gesture many saw as a flimsy justification to erase a foundational pillar of Islamic worship.

Observers noted that other drought-stricken Muslim countries, including Algeria, which successfully imported livestock to meet demand, found alternative solutions that preserved the spiritual and communal essence of Eid. “Instead of exploring viable options, the Moroccan regime chose submission and suppression,” one commentator remarked, adding that “the decision to ban, raid, and confiscate reflects not necessity but arrogance and disregard for the religious conscience of the Moroccan people.”
