Morocco, a Kingdom of Darkness: Brutal Repression in the Service of the Zionist Entity

As Rabat deepens its alliance with the Zionist entity, the Moroccan regime intensifies its crackdown on pro-Palestine and pro-Sahrawi voices, turning the country into a police state where dissent is criminalized and foreign solidarity is forcefully silenced.

Algiers, Algeria | June 11th, 2025 — Morocco’s human rights record continues to sink into darkness, revealing the authoritarian core of a regime that brands itself as modern and tolerant. Far from being a “Kingdom of Light,” as touted by its propaganda campaigns, Morocco is increasingly seen as a “Kingdom of Darkness,” where repression is the norm and Zionist collaboration dictates domestic and foreign policy priorities.

According to the German newspaper Junge Welt, quoted by the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic’s official news agency (SPS), Rabat’s refusal to allow the entry of several European activists and politicians—who support either the Sahrawi cause or Palestine—is a stark reflection of its repressive reality. The article states that Morocco now systematically silences all dissent, especially those who demand a just resolution to the issue of Western Sahara or who criticize the regime’s dangerous normalization with the Zionist entity.

The expelled delegation, composed of 13 activists and political figures from France and Spain, was forcibly turned back last Saturday at the Port of Tangier. Their only “crime” was to participate in the final leg of the “March for Freedom,” a peaceful initiative that began in March in Évry-sur-Seine, France, and traveled over 3,000 kilometers across Europe.

The march was due to end at Kenitra Prison, where several Sahrawi political prisoners—notably the group from the 2010 Gdeim Izik protest camp—are still held in abysmal conditions. These men were subjected to military trials that were widely condemned by international human rights organizations for failing to meet basic standards of justice.

No legal justification was provided for the activists’ expulsion. The Moroccan authorities simply cited “sovereignty”—a catch-all excuse repeatedly used to shield the regime from international scrutiny and legal responsibility. Junge Welt emphasized that this behavior exposes the totalitarian face of a regime determined to stifle any form of criticism.

Normalization, Repression, and the Zionist Alliance

The Moroccan state’s repression is directly tied to its alliance with the Zionist entity, which it has embraced with zeal despite massive domestic opposition. The regime’s crackdown has particularly intensified against those who speak out in favor of Palestine and against the normalization project—seen by many Moroccans as a betrayal of Arab and Islamic principles.

The Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH) has denounced what it describes as a deliberate and systematic campaign of torture, arbitrary detention, and extrajudicial killings, especially targeting those who express dissent over Palestine or Western Sahara. The association warned that cases of death under torture in police custody, degrading treatment in prisons, and sweeping violations of freedom of expression are part of a broader authoritarian agenda.

This strategy, critics argue, is not just about silencing internal dissent—it is also about pleasing Tel Aviv, securing intelligence support, and cementing Morocco’s position as a loyal client in the Western-Zionist axis.

With every expulsion, arrest, or act of censorship, the Makhzen regime makes one thing clear: it will go to any length to preserve its power—even if it means betraying its people, surrendering its sovereignty to foreign influence, and embracing the Zionist entity’s colonial agenda.
