ALGIERS- The Pegasus spy program scandal continues to make waves as Spanish intelligence has distributed a helpful guide to top officials in the country dealing with sensitive information or affecting national security to avoid being spied on.
The move comes following accusations that Morocco spied on Spanish officials, including Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, using the Pegasus program to blackmail them.
The Pegasus scandal came to light in July 2021, when more than 80 journalists from ten countries revealed that the program was being used against at least 50,000 people worldwide. Morocco has been accused of buying the program from the Zionist company NSO and of using the Pegasus intelligence device for espionage purposes. This has led to increased suspicions about the shadowy role of Morocco’ spy services in Spain.
Spanish intelligence said distribution of the guide was necessary despite the fact that they ruled out, last June, Rabat’s ‘theft’ of sensitive information from Sanchez’s phone to blackmail him to change his position on the question of Western Sahara.
The intelligence services have denied that the change of position of the Spanish government was motivated by blackmail from Rabat.
The newspaper El Esdiario reported that suspicions about the dark role of Morocco’s powerful spy services in Spain were growing, and that the intelligence move was the proof.
Spain’s intelligence services say they made no security mistakes in monitoring the prime minister’s phone and some of the personalities spied on through the Zionist company NSO’s Pegasus program.
