Algiers – September 2025 – In a move underscoring Algeria’s renewed emphasis on the strategic nexus between education, youth, and the labor market, Nacima Arhab officially assumed her duties on Monday in Algiers as Minister of Training and Vocational Education. She succeeds Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, who has been appointed Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries.

During the handover ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters, Arhab expressed her gratitude to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for entrusting her with what she described as a “vital sector” that directly serves the Algerian youth and underpins the nation’s socio-economic future. “We are faced with a great responsibility, and together with the sector’s executives, we will strive to advance the process and realize more projects in the field of training and vocational education,” she declared with determination.

Arhab emphasized that the sector stands at the heart of Algeria’s economic transformation, as it bridges the gap between academic preparation and the practical demands of the labor market. By strengthening professional training systems, she aims to cultivate a generation of highly skilled professionals capable of driving the country’s industrial, technological, and agricultural ambitions.

Her appointment is also viewed as a strategic signal of continuity and innovation. With a doctorate in executive business administration (specializing in management) from the Higher Institute of Management and Planning (ISGP) and a magister from the National Institute of Commerce, Arhab brings to her post a blend of academic expertise and field experience. She previously held key responsibilities, including Director of Incubators at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-Enterprises, and later as Head of Studies and Synthesis before serving as Secretary General of the same ministry.

Outgoing minister Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, in turn, extended his thanks to the ministry’s staff for their tireless efforts in delivering projects that benefit Algeria’s youth and strengthen the domestic labor market.
