Naftal Reinforces Social Commitment with Three New Agreements Enhancing Workers’ Welfare

Algiers, Algeria | June 21st, 2025 — In a step toward bolstering employee welfare and workplace dignity, Naftal has signed three pivotal agreements addressing the socio-professional and health-related needs of its personnel. The signing ceremony, held in the presence of Naftal’s General Manager, Mr. Djamel Cherdoud, and the Secretary General of the National Union, Mr. Abdelhak Amrani, marks a turning point in the company’s commitment to social dialogue and employee empowerment.

According to a statement released by the company, the agreements reflect Naftal’s continued effort to respond meaningfully to the concerns of its workforce and to elevate the quality of working conditions within the organization.

The first agreement introduces a third-party payment system that will grant Naftal employees and their dependents access to a wide range of medical services — including partial coverage for surgical operations — through a network of healthcare providers officially contracted with the company. This reform is expected to simplify medical procedures, reduce financial burden on employees, and enhance overall access to quality care.

The second agreement entails a notable increase in the value of the company’s food basket allowance (“Panier”), effective July 1, 2025. This increase is specifically designed to shield workers from inflation and reinforce their purchasing power, particularly in a challenging economic climate, while reinforcing Naftal’s dedication to social equity.

The third agreement involves a substantial update of the collective labor agreement. It expands and modernizes provisions related to paid absences for personal and family events — including marriage, childbirth, circumcision, and bereavement — ensuring these rights align with contemporary societal norms and protect longstanding worker entitlements.

Both Naftal’s management and union representatives underscored that the agreements are the result of a transparent, constructive, and inclusive dialogue. The joint declaration affirms that these accords are more than administrative formalities — they represent a shared vision of building a professional environment grounded in trust, mutual respect, and social justice.
