Nasri: Algeria Reaffirms Unwavering Commitment to the Sahrawi Cause

Algiers, Algeria | Algeria remains steadfast in its unconditional commitment to the Sahrawi cause, anchoring its foreign policy in principles drawn from its own pioneering November Revolution against French colonialism, declared Council of the Nation Speaker Azouz Nasri on Wednesday.

 

Speaking through Senator Ayache Djebailia at the closing ceremony of the 13th Summer University for Polisario Front cadres, held in Boumerdès, Nasri described Algeria’s stance as a civilizational constant, deeply rooted in its liberation heritage and reinforced by its historical victories that have, in his words, “discredited false colonial narratives” and confirmed the immutable law of history: the inevitable end of colonialism, regardless of its duration.

 

He underscored that Algeria’s support for the Sahrawi people’s right to independence and control over their natural resources is not a tactical or temporary position, but rather an enduring principle aligned with its African identity, its defense of the continent’s interests, and its conviction that the time has come to free Africa from colonial exploitation.

Nasri further noted that this position represents the consistent message of Algerian diplomacy under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who reiterates at every international forum that the Western Sahara issue is fundamentally one of decolonization, requiring a just settlement through the only legitimate path: the recognition and exercise of the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
