National Criminal Network Specializing in Factory Burglaries Dismantled in Algiers

ALGIERS- Algeria’s National Gendarmerie Forces announced on Friday the successful dismantling of a dangerous criminal network specialized in burglarizing factories, according to an official statement.

The investigation was led by the Special Intervention Unit (SSI) of Bir Mourad Raïs and the Oued Smar Brigade, following a report received on the emergency hotline 1055. The report indicated the theft of a factory in Oued Smar by a group of masked individuals armed with bladed weapons.

“Thanks to the swift intervention of the National Gendarmerie forces, three individuals were apprehended in the act,” stated the source, noting that the tools used by the burglars were recovered, along with stolen items totaling 11 million centimes in cash, 4 tires, and 4 batteries.

After a thorough investigation, six additional individuals associated with the criminal network were identified and subsequently arrested. The gendarmes also successfully resolved other similar cases reported recently, in addition to confiscating two cars and a motorcycle used by the burglars.

The suspects have been presented before the territorially competent public prosecutor, as confirmed by the National Gendarmerie. The operation’s success reflects the effective collaboration and quick response of the law enforcement agencies in addressing and dismantling criminal networks involved in industrial theft.
