National Gendarmerie in Oran Dismantles Criminal Network Illegally Trafficking in Fiat Doblo Panorama Vehicles

Eleven individuals arrested for identity fraud, illicit speculation, and document forgery with municipal complicity

Algiers, Algeria | May 20th, 2025 — In a major operation that strikes at the heart of organized economic crime, the Oran National Gendarmerie’s Research and Investigation Unit, in coordination with the Cybercrime Division and under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor of the El-Othmania Court, successfully dismantled a criminal network composed of eleven individuals engaged in illicit speculation involving Fiat Doblo Panorama vehicles.

The network operated through a sophisticated scheme, illegally acquiring and reselling the vehicles by fraudulently using the identity documents of unsuspecting individuals. This unlawful activity was facilitated by corrupt municipal employees working in the vehicle registration department of one of the communes. These officials were found to be conducting vehicle sale procedures using the names of third parties without their knowledge or consent.

The operation resulted in the seizure of two Fiat Doblo Panorama vehicles, obtained through this fraudulent network. Following the completion of all necessary legal procedures, a comprehensive case file was submitted, and all suspects were brought before the Public Prosecutor at El-Othmania Court.

The individuals now face multiple serious charges, including:

• Illicit speculation,

• Forgery of official administrative documents and use of forged documents,

• Identity theft,

• Engaging in activities in violation of laws and regulations.
