National Police Chief Badaoui Leads Inspection in Skikda: Enhanced Security Infrastructure and Social Welfare in Focus

Algiers, Algeria | July 8th, 2025 — On the occasion of Algeria’s 63rd Independence Day, Director General of National Security (DGSN), Mr. Ali Badaoui, conducted a working and inspection visit to the province of Skikda on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Accompanied by the Wali of Skikda, as well as senior civil, military, and judicial officials, and media representatives, the visit underscored the government’s commitment to modernizing security infrastructure and reinforcing national cohesion through proximity-based policing.

The visit commenced with the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Maritime Border Police Brigade at the Port of Skikda. Fully equipped with state-of-the-art operational and logistical resources, this facility serves as a frontline bastion against cross-border threats and illicit trafficking. Director General Badaoui issued strict instructions to ensure the highest levels of vigilance and inspection, especially against drug smuggling and prohibited substances, given their grave socio-economic implications.

He also stressed the importance of facilitating travel for members of the Algerian diaspora, many of whom pass through Skikda during the summer season, urging officers to provide swift, secure, and courteous service, while working in full coordination with customs authorities.

In a second milestone, Mr. Badaoui presided over the inauguration and operational launch of the Larbi Ben M’hidi External Urban Police Station within Skikda Municipality. During the ceremony, he outlined a vision of modern policing centered on preventive action, community engagement, and deterrence. He called on local officers to uphold public confidence through firm and respectful enforcement, especially given Skikda’s rising status as a leading national and international tourist destination.

Addressing the welfare of police personnel, the DGSN chief inaugurated a new block of functional housing for National Security agents in the Larbi Ben M’hidi district, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to creating a stable and dignified living environment for its workforce.

The visit concluded with the opening of the newly renovated Felfela Hotel, dedicated to the National Security Mutual Fund and named in honor of the late Mujahid and police commander Boufnaz Taher. In the presence of the martyred officer’s family, Mr. Badaoui received a detailed briefing on the facility, which was built according to modern architectural standards and designed to offer rest and recreation services to officers and their families—a gesture of national gratitude and institutional solidarity.
