National Union of Magistrates: Laidi Aoudeche’s Resignation Officially Ratified

Algiers – November 2025 – The National Union of Magistrates (SNM) convened an extraordinary session this Saturday, November 8, in Algiers, during which the resignation of its president, Mr. Laidi Aoudeche, was officially validated.
According to an official communiqué issued by the SNM, the decision was taken in strict conformity with the provisions of the union’s statutes, particularly Articles 34, 56, and 57, which outline the legal and procedural framework governing leadership transitions within the organization. The executive bureau thus formally accepted Mr. Aoudeche’s resignation, while noting that the decision will be subject to confirmation during the forthcoming Extraordinary General Assembly, the date of which is expected to be announced in due course.
In the interim, Mr. Hichem Desdous, the First Vice President and Secretary General, has been appointed to assume interim leadership responsibilities, ensuring the smooth management of the union’s current affairs and the preservation of its institutional functions.
The executive bureau further decided to initiate the preparatory procedures for the upcoming elective General Assembly, which will serve as the formal platform for electing a new president to steer the SNM through the next phase of its mandate.
