National Water Desalination Agency created

ALGIERS-  The National Water Desalination Agency (ANDE) was created by virtue of an executive decree published in Official Gazette No. 16. The text, signed by the Prime Minister aïmene benabderrahmane, also sets the missions, organization and functioning of this agency.

The national water desalination agency “ANDE”, “is a public establishment of an industrial and commercial nature, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy”, indicated the text, which specified that the agency was placed under the supervision of the Minister in charge of hydraulics and its headquarters are located in Algiers.

According to the executive decree, “the agency is an instrument for implementing the national policy on water desalination” and “its action aims to strengthen national water production capacities in order to ensure the water security. »

As such, added the text, “the agency’s mission is to carry out, operate and ensure the maintenance of water desalination plants and related infrastructure and equipment, by carrying out all actions and operations contributing to this effect”.

It is also responsible for conducting all studies and analyzes relating to water desalination, making the water produced at desalination stations available to organizations responsible for water distribution and contributing to the development of the national strategy for water desalination.
