Algiers- Algeria, May 11, 2024 – Ever since Algeria took its seat on the United Nations Security Council earlier this year on behalf of the Arab Group, as we anticipated, the Algerian mission at the Security Council has been tirelessly pushing for resolutions to halt aggression, condemn Zionist crimes, and advocate for Palestine. While some efforts have faced challenges due to US-Western vetoes, others have resulted in significant successes.
The most recent victory for Algeria at the Security Council occurred yesterday when the Council unanimously adopted an Algerian draft resolution calling for an investigation into the mass graves in Gaza, particularly those surrounding Al-Shifa and Nasser Hospitals, which contain the remains of thousands of Palestinian civilians. This investigation aims to expose the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Zionist occupation forces and their supporters.
We all hope that the efforts to uncover those responsible for these mass graves, which stand as a shameful testament to the perpetrators and their accomplices, will be successful.
Let us salute Algeria, its people, vibrant forces, army, government, and president, as they have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the pledge made by their revolutionaries on the day of independence: “Algeria’s independence is not complete without the independence of Palestine.”
