Ninth Anniversary of Mouhcine Fikri’s Assassination: The National Rifi Party Calls on the Free People of the Rif to Rally in Antwerp

Algiers – October 2025 – As the ninth anniversary of the assassination of Rif martyr Mouhcine Fikri approaches, the National Rifi Party has issued a call to all free men and women of the Rif to participate actively in a commemorative gathering in Antwerp, Belgium. This solemn occasion comes at a time when the Moroccan regime, entrenched in its authoritarian apparatus, faces mounting protests across the Rif and throughout the kingdom.
The party emphasizes that Fikri’s martyrdom ignited a flame of resistance that continues to illuminate the path of popular struggle in the Rif. His death, a stark symbol of defiance against the oppressive Moroccan occupation, remains a rallying point for those determined to confront the cowardice and injustice of the Makhzen system. The commemoration seeks not only to honor his memory but also to reaffirm the enduring commitment of the Rif populace to their struggle for dignity, justice, and liberation from systemic repression.
This year’s remembrance coincides with the harrowing incident involving Rif artist Mustafa Soualit, whose ordeal exposed the Makhzen’s true nature. Soualit was forcibly dragged by regime enforcers from a café in Al Hoceima and publicly set ablaze—a shocking act that underscores the criminality and tyranny embedded in the Moroccan state, which continues to deprive citizens of freedom and plunder their resources with impunity.
The outrage sparked by these events has fueled the resurgence of the Z generation, who have returned to the streets across multiple Moroccan regions. Protesters explicitly reject superficial remedies and demand sweeping reforms in combating corruption, overhauling education and healthcare systems, and ensuring social justice. Their calls include a direct demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Akhannouch, who is widely seen as the regime’s “black box”—the linchpin of the Makhzen’s entrenched network of power.
The National Rifi Party warns that the persistence of this authoritarian governance—manifested in mass arrests of demonstrators, systematic media blackout, and manipulation of online discourse through state-sponsored cyber trolls—cannot suppress the collective demand for justice and accountability. The people, exhausted by decades of repression, hunger, and the Makhzen’s calculated manipulations, continue to assert their right to freedom and dignity.
