Akbou, Algeria – In a remarkable display of Algerian patriotism and unity, fans of Olympique Akbou (OCA) rebuffed the attempts of terrorist leader Ferhat Mhenni, president of the so-called MAK movement, to manipulate them into supporting his subversive maneuvers. The response was resounding, as supporters of the historic club, founded in 1936, reaffirmed their allegiance to Algeria and disassociated themselves from Mhenni’s divisive agenda.
The incident unfolded during a match in the second division of Algerian football, where Olympique Akbou faced off against USM El Harrach. Fans turned out in force, adorning the stadium with national flags and chanting nationalist slogans in a clear rejection of attempts to sow discord.
Mhenni’s assertion that the club and its fans supported his separatist movement was met with swift and unequivocal condemnation from Karim Takka, the club’s president. Takka minced no words in denouncing Mhenni’s claims, stating, “The madness, coupled with acute mental degeneration, has seriously affected the infamous Ferhat Mhenni, head of the terrorist organization MAK. Not content with aligning himself with the Zionist entity and its lackeys in the Makhzen for a few million euros, this eccentric is now attempting to engage in sports manipulation for undisclosed purposes.”
Takka emphasized the apolitical nature of the club, declaring, “We vehemently denounce such statements, which only reflect the author’s intentions. Our club is purely sports-oriented, devoid of any political affiliations. While we embrace our Amazigh heritage, we are first and foremost Algerians, and proud of it. We forbid anyone from using the club’s emblem for political purposes, and we reserve the right to take legal action against any malicious individuals.”
The fans echoed Takka’s sentiments, demonstrating their commitment to Algeria by proudly displaying the national emblem in all its forms and chanting patriotic slogans throughout the match. Despite the attempts to divide, Olympique Akbou’s supporters stood united, sending a powerful message of national pride and solidarity.
Meanwhile, the team’s performance on the pitch continued to impress. In the 24th round of the second division league, Olympique Akbou maintained their dominance, securing another victory against USM El Harrach. With this win, Olympique Akbou strengthened their position at the top of the league, demonstrating their determination to secure promotion to the elite league.
