Ooredoo Algeria Expands 5G Network Nationwide, Marking Major Milestone in the Country’s Digital Transformation

ALGIERS, March 9th, 2026 — Ooredoo Algeria has announced the nationwide expansion of its fifth-generation mobile network, extending 5G coverage to all wilayas across Algeria, in a move that represents a significant milestone in the country’s accelerating digital transformation.
According to a statement issued by the operator, the expansion reflects Ooredoo’s continued commitment to innovation and to broadening access to cutting-edge technologies. The deployment aims to deliver faster, smarter, and more efficient connectivity to users across the national territory.
Equal Access to Digital Technologies
Driven by the objective of ensuring equal access to advanced technologies for all subscribers, Ooredoo Algeria has pursued an ambitious rollout of its 5G network nationwide. The expansion also responds to growing demand for high-speed connectivity across different regions of the country.
To ensure optimal service quality, the operator will further strengthen its network infrastructure and increase the density of transmission stations. This approach is designed to expand coverage while delivering a user experience aligned with international standards across every wilaya.
Through this latest phase of technological development, Ooredoo Algeria has become the first mobile operator to provide nationwide 5G coverage across Algeria. Leveraging advanced infrastructure and next-generation technological solutions, the company has surpassed, within its first year, the deployment targets set out in the regulatory specifications governing the introduction of 5G services.

Commenting on the milestone, Roni Tohme, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Algeria, stated:

Seamless Transition to 5G Connectivity
Ooredoo Algeria also confirmed that all existing 4G USIM cards are fully compatible with 5G technology, allowing subscribers to transition seamlessly to the new generation of connectivity without the need to replace their SIM cards.
Activation of the service can be carried out directly through the MyOoredoo application, via the dedicated platform choof.ooredoo.dz, or at any Ooredoo customer service center across the country.
The initiative forms part of the company’s broader digital strategy, which seeks to simplify user procedures and bring advanced services closer to customers while strengthening Algeria’s digital ecosystem.
