Algiers – October 2025 –  The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) announced on Sunday a collective increase in oil production by 137,000 barrels per day (bpd) starting November 2025, following a high-level ministerial meeting held via videoconference.

Algeria’s Minister of State for Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, took part in the meeting alongside his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, and Russia. The session, which brought together key figures of the global energy landscape, also included the CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, and the President of the National Agency for Hydrocarbon Resource Valorization (ALNAFT), Samir Bekhti, in addition to several senior officials from the sector.

The outcome of the meeting grants Algeria an additional production quota of 4,000 barrels per day, a modest yet significant increase reflecting its consistent commitment to energy market stability and collaborative governance within OPEC+.

During his address, Minister Arkab emphasized that this decision embodies a balanced and prudent approach, designed to safeguard the stability of the global oil market while maintaining the necessary flexibility to adapt to fluctuating international economic conditions. He further noted that this moderate increase comes at a time when global oil demand remains strong, though potential slowdowns in growth may loom in the months ahead due to persistent geopolitical and financial uncertainties.

The ministers collectively reaffirmed their commitment to monthly coordination and close market monitoring, ensuring effective implementation of agreed-upon measures and swift responses to any volatility.

The next ministerial meeting of the eight OPEC+ members is scheduled for November 2, 2025, where further evaluations of production levels and market dynamics will be conducted in light of global economic developments.
