Algiers – November 2025 – Algeria’s Minister of State for Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, participated via videoconference in a high-level OPEC+ ministerial meeting, convening representatives from eight member countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman, Russia, and Algeria.
The meeting concluded with a carefully calibrated decision to increase collective oil production by 137,000 barrels per day starting December 2025, allocating Algeria’s share at 4,000 barrels per day. In a move reflecting foresight and discipline, the ministers simultaneously agreed to freeze any further increases in production during the first quarter of 2026, spanning January 1 to March 31, ensuring that market stability remains paramount amid global economic uncertainty.
Arkab emphasized that the incremental increase represents “a prudent and concerted approach, fully attuned to market demands and global balance,” signaling Algeria’s commitment to measured, responsible participation in the international energy landscape. He underscored that the freeze in early 2026 is designed to counter seasonal declines in demand while maintaining coherence in the collective strategy of OPEC+ nations.
Highlighting the broader significance, Arkab affirmed that the decisions reflect “the shared resolve of the eight-member alliance to uphold equilibrium and stability in the global oil market,” demonstrating an acute awareness of the volatility that characterizes today’s energy sector.
The ministers also reiterated their commitment to ongoing coordination, agreeing to convene regular follow-up meetings to assess market trends and ensure the effective implementation of joint decisions. The next ministerial gathering of the eight OPEC+ countries has been scheduled for November 30, 2025.
