Algiers- Algeria, May 15, 2024 –  The first-ever “Algeria” edition of the “Global CEO Survey,” conducted by PwC, reveals a significant surge in optimism among Algerian business leaders regarding the country’s economic growth prospects. The survey, presented at an official ceremony in Algiers, indicates that 90% of business leaders are optimistic about Algeria’s economic growth over the next twelve months. Additionally, 87% express confidence in their companies’ ability to generate growth over the next three years.

Despite this optimism, there are concerns about inflation’s impact on real economic activity, with 68% of managers worried about rising prices affecting consumption and sales. Moreover, 51% express concerns about cybersecurity risks in an increasingly digital and artificial intelligence-driven world.

To adapt to these challenges, more than half of the surveyed business leaders (55%) plan to invest in modernizing their company structures by reshaping their business models for the next decade. This transformation is influenced by changes witnessed in the business world over the past five years, including the development of new products and services, adoption of new technologies, and formation of new strategic partnerships.

Algerian business leaders are also addressing global challenges such as climate change and transforming energy consumption patterns by investing in reinventing their operational processes. 56% of respondents have initiated actions to improve energy efficiency within their companies, and 47% plan to invest in new products that meet environmental standards.

Overall, the “CEO Survey” among Algerian business leaders reflects a renewed sense of confidence in the national economic sphere, likely driven by significant improvements in the business environment over the past two years. This includes streamlined bureaucracy for investing and land allocation through the AAPI, improved access to financing with expected interest rate reductions, and a more reassuring political discourse for both domestic and foreign economic operators and investors.

Kamel Moula, the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), highlighted the importance of confidence and enthusiasm for investment in Algeria, citing the registration of over 7,000 companies with the AAPI as a key indicator. The “CEO Survey” captures managers’ opinions on various themes related to economic growth, confidence, transformation, and challenges and perspectives for businesses worldwide.
